Cool down the edgy way

A hot day is over now, and what I need on days like that is: Ice cream. Honestly, if I had to chose one kind of candy I would chose ice cream! So today I tried some fancy things such as white chocolate with strawberries! Also the ice cream shop was so cute I had to share it with you guys.

Acurately it should read Impressions of my days, since this is a reflection on the last week or so. I am very very sorry for not keeping you posted over the last couple days, but I was gone for teaching a seminar. It was at a small village in a youth hostel and it was held for young students going to study abroad! It was lots of fun!!! But, there was no Wlan, so I could not post anything. Well, if you had just half as much fun as I did your weekend was probably amazing;) Love, Frieda

You know how some people have to go out to walk their dog? Well, I sometimes have to go out to walk one of my dresses:) No, really. I think there is nothing sadder than having beautiful clothes and not wearing them.So, today was one of those days: I was just hanging out at home rewatching the first season of Criminal Minds, when I had the feeling I needed to get dressed  up and finally get an outfit shot done. And the dress was one of those dresses that needed to get out again. After a long winter break and very few showings in general since a spring dance two years ago I thought it appropriate to show off this beauty! I love the fabric and the flowers, I thought about shortening it, but decided not to so I could keep the original shape. So it really is a treasure and should be shown off way more often! That is the difference berween a dog and the dress you cannot get someone to take out your dress, but there certainly are dogwalkers:) So, If you would excuse me there are more dresses in my closet that need to take a walk in the perfect sunshine!

Flower bench

Oh, how much I love things like that! I just enjoy walking around and stumbling over the cutest things completely unexpected. This cute bench filled with flowers was one of those. And in the end that is what life is all about, to expect the unexpected and to enjoy these litttle pleasures in life:)

When I came home today the light outside was just perfect, so I decided to grap this yellow band throw on my new yellow shirt and go out dancing in the fading sun under a perfectly blue sky. I don´t look my best after a long day, but everything else was just so perfect I couln´t resist taking some shots:)
Hearing that yellow would be the color of the season, I wasn´t too happy at first. Mostly because I did not have a clue how to wear and combine it, but now that I actually own a couple items in the trend color I start to understand why so many designers liked the color- It is an instant feel-better color! Have you tried wearing yellow yet? Well if you haven´t you should, because it actually brightens  your day, just like the touch of the first sun beam.

Since I have been talking about summer and spring a lot lately, and because today was an especially nice day I thought it time to show you what has been on my mind lately. So, as you might have noticed before I love flowers! I also enjoy shoes...very much, even more so if they are the first open toed shoes after a long winter! But the most inspiring was actually the little quote above. It really is true, sometimes good things come to you the most unexpected way.
I was not in the best mood when entering the cafe, loaden with work to do and with little time on my hands, getting some tea is probably the best thing you can do. So I sat down and turned the little tag, and there it was: a little note that reminded me to take in the season and the moment, because they won´t come back in the same matter. After reading this, and remembering the other works of this amazing writer I felt like sharing some of this season´s gifts and pleasures with you. Go on out there enjoying the fruit of the season, and maybe you want to do so in the first pair of unpacked shoes, getting them all ready for summer to really get going!

Going to the movies tonight I needed to wear something comfy. As much as I enjoy dressing up, when going to the movies (or any place alike) I think it is a little over the top to be all dressed up. So I decided to wear something casual. I love cardigans in any color and length, but this one with its unusual shape and the golden sparkles is one of my favs. The same applies to the shirt I am wearing. It is such a soft fabric that I love to wear it all the times, maybe that is the reason it is a little out of shape allready. That is also the reason I mostly wear it in a casual way.
To this all around feel-good outfit I added a ring with a little bird. I found it while going shopping with one of my besties in some beach stores in Cali.
So in short this outfit combines easy-goimg with cute memories of my besties, so just the perfect thing to wear for a relaxed saturday night!

Let flowers do the talking!

Yep, maybe I am old-fashioned, maybe this is kitschy, but I still believe in the magic of flowers. I mean there are these days you just need to be a girl and need to be presented with a bunch of cute flowers. At least for me there are and today was one of them.
 It is just the smallest geste, but it represents attention and care, and often flowers can do a much better job at that than actual talking. The most important days of our lives are accompanied by those blooming beauties. We get a wristband from our first prom date, a bouquet from our husband-to-be, there are flowers at mothers day and on round birthdays and finally at funerals. Flowers obtain a power of wisdom and knowledge, without words they know the right thing to say and generations before us have trusted in them. In earlier centuries flowers were a proper way of communication between lovers, as well. Back then there were more known meanings than just the mandatory red roses. I really like the idea of this very aesthetic way of interaction. A simple sunflower would express your adoration, while a pink tulip informed everyone that you are caring.
How nice it would be to have "conversations" like that in modern times. While everything around is loud and hectic wouldn´t it be nice to have a wisteria be sign of steadfastness again?
