This way?!

So recently I have been feeling like I really needed an arrow to point out the important. It seems as if my life has been so packed lately that I am losing focus.
I love to be busy and I love to be needed in places. That makes me a really easy target for extra work, not in a bad way anyways. Usually it just keeps me busy and around lots of interesting people. It is what I do and who I am. I have always been busier than most of my friends and family so I am used to getting that look;) (meaning: how the heck do you do all that). And it is not something I would ever complain about, since I chose this way for me.
But apparently it took some other people to point out to me that sometimes it is ok not to do everything at once. I am grateful to have people like this in my life who just know what to say and how to calm me after so much has been going on. Unfortunately, there is still some work I have to catch up on and the new semester is about to start, so lets see how this is going to work. Anyways, I am lucky to know there is always someone in my life to point that arrow at the important when I am losing focus. Such as just a nice dinner with friends, going for photoshoot, collecting some of the first fall leaves...
I really wish you all people like this and moments like this to refocus! Love, Frieda

Turning pages

Hey lovelies,
noticed something? Yep, I did a little work on m yblog today. What do you think?
Well, I decided that since this blog is to cherish the changes and possibilies of life it could need some changes itself. Also I thought that after I started blogging in spring (THE season of change) what better time would there be for a new look than fall (second season of change). So, I hope you all are enjoying the first falling leaves and a walk outside these days! Love, Frieda

Back in the days

What do memeories mean to you? Are they a lesson, a burden, a happy thing, necessary, or are they just unavoidable? When I came across these pictures that were taken a while back I wondered about the meaning of memories. As for me memories can be all of the above named and even more. There have been good and less good days for all of us, but looking back on it now I mostly compiled good memories. There are memories of great parties, of amazing friends, of fun trips and simply groing up. And I know they made me to the person I am today. Experiences and memories make us able to act on prior knowledge and to be self-reflecting, but most of all they make us more "us"! So, maybe next time you come across some old pictures take a moment to remember how the moment captured in them shaped you to be you!

And it´s different in print

I love books. Yes, of course for their content, but also for their feeling! If you ever laid finger on a good book and could not let go of it, always keeping it close, letting your hands go through it over and over again, you have probably experienced the feeling I am talking about. It is that feeling that makes me return to old-fashion books. Despite the technological advances which I like to use on a daily basis, you know such as this blog. I love all those other bloggers I follow daily, I also enjoy some online books and libraries, as it is just for their content, but after a long day all I want is to come back to the welcoming feeling of a book. It is familiar, it is close, it is personal.  Even though I like to think that this feeling just came out of nowhere, when I was thinking about it I couldn´t help but notice that I might have a connection to this feeling of a different sort. So, I think that maybe my love for the printed comes from me growing up in the city where printing was first invented, or at least movable letters were. But no matter how I came to feel the way I do about the printed word I am happy about it and to share this with you and all my future followers I added this cute button on the side bar of my blog, to remind everyone that while it is ok and necessary at some times to use online media etc. for their extended content they will never out-model an old-fashioned book in the feeling they are able to create!

Impressions of my day

easy breakfast/ some pansies/ thoughtful quote on a tea bag/ tulips/ first pair of summer shoes

Since I have been talking about summer and spring a lot lately, and because today was an especially nice day I thought it time to show you what has been on my mind lately. So, as you might have noticed before I love flowers! I also enjoy shoes...very much, even more so if they are the first open toed shoes after a long winter! But the most inspiring was actually the little quote above. It really is true, sometimes good things come to you the most unexpected way.
I was not in the best mood when entering the cafe, loaden with work to do and with little time on my hands, getting some tea is probably the best thing you can do. So I sat down and turned the little tag, and there it was: a little note that reminded me to take in the season and the moment, because they won´t come back in the same matter. After reading this, and remembering the other works of this amazing writer I felt like sharing some of this season´s gifts and pleasures with you. Go on out there enjoying the fruit of the season, and maybe you want to do so in the first pair of unpacked shoes, getting them all ready for summer to really get going!

Let flowers do the talking!

Yep, maybe I am old-fashioned, maybe this is kitschy, but I still believe in the magic of flowers. I mean there are these days you just need to be a girl and need to be presented with a bunch of cute flowers. At least for me there are and today was one of them.
It is just the smallest geste, but it represents attention and care, and often flowers can do a much better job at that than actual talking. The most important days of our lives are accompanied by those blooming beauties. We get a wristband from our first prom date, a bouquet from our husband-to-be, there are flowers at mothers day and on round birthdays and finally at funerals. Flowers obtain a power of wisdom and knowledge, without words they know the right thing to say and generations before us have trusted in them. In earlier centuries flowers were a proper way of communication between lovers, as well. Back then there were more known meanings than just the mandatory red roses. I really like the idea of this very aesthetic way of interaction. A simple sunflower would express your adoration, while a pink tulip informed everyone that you are caring.
How nice it would be to have "conversations" like that in modern times. While everything around is loud and hectic wouldn´t it be nice to have a wisteria be sign of steadfastness again?

Impressions of my day

Frankfurt Skyline/ little well / a building of the world culture museum/ looking to the ground/ Writing lab inside the world culture museum

Finishing some of my writing pieces I started at the writing lab in Frankfurt a while a ago I wanted to share some of the impressions I got there. I really enjoyed sitting in the little park behind the museum reading before class started- I captured some of this in pictures 2 and 3. The atmosphere in the writing lab later was also truly inspiring as a wall of picures welcomed us to take a look at different cultures. It was also good to meet other aspiring writers and discuss our pieces. I was taken aback by their talent and creativity. I surely learned a lot these days and will take lots of it into my future writing. Thanks!:)

I´m a shoe

Nope, I am not really a shoe, it´s a metaphor...

I´ve been rewatching the pilot episodes of some of my favorite TV shows lately and I cracked up over the first episode of Friends! I think it is just hilarious and the video above shows my favorite quote. So maybe that´s what I will do if I have a minute to spare on the weekend: rewatch the first season. For me it is no surprise Friends was so successful. It combines the most important things in a TV show: fun, friendship, love and some fooling around. Just the perfect thing to watch and relanx and have a little fun!

First Chapter

Jacket: selfmade by my grannie/Shirt: Zara/Leggings: Primark/Bag: Vintage/Rings: Vintage

When I would have to descibe the contents of my closet...oh boy, that would be a long list. You know those people who have a certain style? Those people who could put one label on there style and fine? Well, I really admire those guys for their consistency! But, as I stated before I like change just a little bit more! So I think descibing one´s style should never be just a couple of words. We are telling stories with our clothes and there is more to a story than just a couple of words. Some stories fill books, others a couple pages, but they all contain more than just those few words. So when we dress we can ask ourselves; What story am I telling people now?  It is what I probably like best about fashion, the ability to be a different person everyday. Since I want to tell a lot in a story I may as well let pictures speak. And so I won´t try to descibe my style in a couple words, I will try to capture its variety in pictures instead. So here you go with the first chaper of my (style) story!
